Sagan wins 5th stage of Tour de Pologne

ZAKOPANE, Poland (AP) Peter Sagan of Slovakia claimed victory in the fifth stage of the Tour de Pologne on Thursday, and retained the overall lead.

The Liquigas cyclist finished the 125-mile ride starting and ending in the mountain town of Zakopane in 4 hours, 52 minutes and 26 seconds. Just behind him and clocking the same time were two Australians - Radobank's Michael Matthews and Garmin-Cervelo's Heinrich Haussler.

The race covers 692 miles across seven stages. The race moves to steeper mountainous routes on Thursday and Friday.
